Marketing & Social Media Specialist
Status: Full-Time
Salary: Starting at $45,000 (with competitive benefits)
Location: Remote (USA timezones preferred)
Previous marketing experience essential: yes
Our website, our emails, and our social feeds are how most of the magic world hears from us. As our Marketing & Social Media Specialist you look after all three — keeping the site accurate and alive, making our products look as good as they deserve to, and showing up every day where our community is already talking.
This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to the cofounders. The measure is simple: every day should leave the site, our emails, or our customers’ social feeds in better shape than you found it.
Website & Product Content
- Keep the product catalogue fresh, rewriting and improving existing copy on an ongoing basis.
- Keep the site healthy: fix broken links and images, retire outdated content, and make sure information stays accurate.
Product Launches
- Take every new release to market across the website, email, and social.
- Coordinate with the product and creative teams so pages, assets, copy, and campaigns are the best they can be.
- Support launches with blog posts, supporting landing pages, and a co-ordinated social plan.
Email Marketing
- Craft compelling email promotions for our products, content, promotions, and other marketing initiatives.
Social Media
- Plan, schedule, and publish content across every platform.
- Reply to comments and messages, monitor mentions, and stay present in the conversation.
- Share and amplify creator content.
- Grow each channel, and build relationships with creators, influencers, and partners.
Skills & Strengths
- Strong writing — you can make a trick sound irresistible without overselling it.
- Comfortable in a CMS: editing pages, uploading media, spotting what's broken.
- Basic design skills, working to a brand style guide.
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals.
- Confident across every major social platform, as a publisher and as a commenter.
- Organised and self-directed — able to work a daily list without being chased.
- Willing to learn — curious, adaptable, and eager to develop new skills, whether that's learning a new platform, understanding a new part of the business, or figuring out a better way to do something.
- Deep understanding of the Vanishing Inc. brand, voice, and audience, and of the magic community.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
A large part of the success of this role comes from consistent, hands-on work. A typical day looks like:
- Clearing overnight comments, messages, and mentions, and publishing the day's posts.
- Refreshing a batch of existing product copy.
- Working ahead on the next release — product page, creator bios, blog, email.
- Checking how recent emails, posts, and pages performed, and fixing what didn't land.
