There is a lot of practical advice to go along with the instructions given. In fact, both discs have a lot of great work on them. But I would not call this comprehensive. The producers and the star do not make that claim; I just wanted to make the point clear. My preference is still Bob White’s DVD on the subject. But that is the graduate work. This is a great set for the undergrad.

These DVDs are clearly designed with the beginner in mind and attempt to cover as much ground as quickly as possible. Those just looking to get started in performing this ancient bit of magic will find enough here to keep them busy for a while. I wish I’d had a similar resource when I was first learning magic. Recommended.

This particular course is not geared to folks who aren't already familiar with the cups and balls (it doesn't teach the basics of the routine). If you're looking for something to teach you the basics, you probably want to start with a more beginner focused video.

Daryl is the absolute best teacher of magic, and this video is a great example of that. I've got many other tutorials for cups & balls, this tops them all including the one by Michael Ammar.

I have just finished watching the first DVD of this two DVD set and it truly is a masterclass in the cups and balls routine and as everyone knows Daryl is one of the best magic teachers there has ever been. His teaching style is easy to follow and expertly taught, I have the Michael Ammar DVDs which are great but I learned a few more subtleties with set and cant wait to watch the second volume so if you want to learn the cups and balls this comes highly recommended.

There was simply no better teacher than Daryl. He takes you through the absolute basics, to more difficult sleights with an engaging wit and charm that is truly inspiring. I was slightly ambivalent about learning a cups and balls routine but spending time with this gentle giant of magic history has awakened an interest I thought I'd never have. DVD 1 lays the essential groundwork for the routines covered in DVD 2. Given the time it will take to master the sleights, it's therefore not crucial to buy them as a set.
