This is, perhaps, the best collection of easy-to-do, powerful card magic ever assembled. Expert card magician Ryan Schlutz has mined over 300 years of card material and collected the very best tricks into one place. All of the tricks have just two things in common: they are HIGHLY deceptive and are simple to do.

Ryan obtained permission from all relevant parties, so Super Strong, Super Simple is a sanctioned, ethical collection of the world's finest self-working card tricks. Each trick is performed for an enthusiastic group of spectators and taught in careful detail by Ryan Schlutz. No advanced knowledge or skill required.

You'll learn:

  • "Forget to Remember" by Ryan Schlutz
  • "Emotional Reaction" by Dai Vernon
  • "Borrowed OOTW" by Various
  • "Pulse Detection" by Ryan Schlutz
  • "Prior Commitment" by Simon Aronson
  • "Bath Towel Mentalism" by So Sato
  • "It Cuts Deep" by Ryan Schlutz
  • "All Expenses Paid" by Jim Krenz
  • "Upside Down Deck" by Francis Carlyle
  • “The Absent Player” by Dani DaOrtiz
  • "Gemini Location" by Liam Montier
  • "Poker Players Picnic Redux" by Ed Oschmann and Tom Dobrowolski
  • "4 Sided Gemini" by John Bannon
  • "Shuffle-Bored" by Simon Aronson
  • "Silent Tansmission" by Eddie Fields
  • "Six Covers Six" by Ryan Schlutz
  • BONUS: Moves Toolbox

On top of all this, Ryan takes you through some essential sleights in the 'Toolbox' section!

IMPORTANT NOTE: We made a mistake and listed the incorrect name for So's wonderful book "The Secrets of So Sato". We recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Customer reviews for Super Strong Super Simple

Curtis
These videos really are fantastic. That being said, it's value depends on your knowledge of card magic. I would say that the LESS you know the better these videos are. Most of these effects are modern classics or use very common principles. Review the effect list before purchase and if you are unfamiliar with several of them, this video will reward you with some really world class (and yes simple) card magic- taught in a very clear and easy to learn way.
Jim
Exactly as described! These are some REALLY simple card routines that don't sacrifice impact for simplicity. Ryan is a fantastic teacher as well.
Felipe
What a great deal. Couldn’t be more happy with what I got. With only 4 of the amazing tricks included on this DVD, you already made your money worthy.
Steven
This is fantastic! There are practically no 'moves'. Many of these are done in the spectator's hands, which always makes for more impressive magic, even if the tricks aren't 'hard' to do. Audience management is the biggest thing you have to handle. I am a hobbyist, have many card trick DVDs already, but will use 4-5 of these tricks easily, if not a few more. Magically delicious!!
Michael
I only looked at the first 2 tricks, but the first one, All Expenses Paid, is quite good. It is one I will be doing, even though I don't do a lot of card tricks. It is a self-working way to do cards across (done last year by Jonathan Burns with cheese instead of cards on Penn and Teller) without the magician ever touching the deck. Clear teaching style. If I get any more tricks that I would use from this large collection, that will be a bonus.
Grégory
It was my very first download item here at Vanishing and I am very satisfied. Nothing but good things here to say. First the website user experience is friendly, second the content of this video is top notch. You will really get easy to perform and self working cards trick. Just because there was prior commitment and shuffle bored (Simon aronson) I bought this. But trust me there is much more. Ryan Schultz is clear and seems a nice guy...Can't recommend enough this video to anyone else who like clear, smooth and strong magic.

Every magician should have this DVD. Period. At LEAST 3 of these effects are going straight into my repertoire. Ryan’s particular nuances on the performances and handlings are worth the price of the DVD alone. Note for working magicians: combine this DVD with memdeck work and a solid cull and you will be unstoppable!

Received this for “free” during the Cyber Monday special. That being said, this download is of terrific value, even at full price. Bath Towel Mentalism (my favorite), Prior Commitment, 4 Sided Gemini, Shuffle-Bored, Silent Transmission, and Six Covers Six were the standouts for me--so many favorites, right? I tend to think I’m quite picky too. If you’re not already familiar with many of the contained tricks and are looking for some self-working/close to self-working miracles, I think it’d be hard to go wrong purchasing this. The only bad thing about the download (not sure if it pertains to the DVD) is that sometimes it’ll look rather pixelated. Tried with multiple video players with the same result, but have not tried re-downloading it. Anyway, I have zero hesitancy recommending this. Top-notch material.
Stuart
This is fantastic. I was looking for something to help me get started and build a skill set and this does exactly what it says on the tin. If you want to get started in card magic this is for you.
Mark
5 stars plus.
Definitely a 'must buy' for beginners and experts alike.
Amazingly easy to perform effects from the incredible magical mind of Ryan Schlutz from Orlando.
The words easy/simple/cheap do NOT mean these effects would fail to entertain and fool real people and magicians alike. The almost 3 hour download is incredible and very reasonably priced. I think too many magicians unnecessarily learn hundreds of card tricks and are constantly looking for that 'holy grail' of card tricks, which will fool all magicians. Forget that thought. These effects are all winners from one of the kindest, friendliest, most helpful person in magic today.
Garry
This Ss Ss comess with two download videos, which is the main tutorial video, and the other includes tips on how to handle the deck such as pinky bteaks etc, this tutorial is on my top list for easy to do, and fun card tricks, three hours of play time in total, demonstrations, explanations, and handaling tips included. This is an amazing tutorial, some great twists to past famous card tricks included, all you need is a deck of cards a couple of double backers which you will need for two of the tricks, and a few blank face cards, and the rest of the tricks all you need is a borrowed deck, that's all you need, a great video production, easy to watch, easy to follow, easy to do, something for everyone, very enjoyable tricks. Great for beginners too.
Edward
these are absolutely brilliant, I have only watched 4 so far but I have managed to do all 4, I am a complete novice and was struggling with a lot of the sleights, I know it takes practice, but, I just wanted something I could do confidently to feel like I'm getting somewhere. And this has got it in Spades!!! I am so looking forward to the rest, Ryan Schlutz is brilliant at explaining every move, will be looking for more from him, so glad I got this
Frank
Definitely download this video. This combined with 10x10 with R Paul Wilson are a perfect set for a beginner or intermediate magician. You don’t need be have a lot of technical skill to perform these tricks but for a more advanced magician there still some killer material that you can use. A great deal and almost 3 hour video, 15 bucks was a steal.
George
One of the best curriculum for this specific room within that humungous ever growing room of Card Magic.
Wide variety of great pieces.
Classics, unique plots and dependable repertoire.
But remember the simplest rick in the hands of an artist can be a major miracle!
Really a good one to get.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
Thanks Ryan for doing all of this work for us!
John
Great selection of excellent, easy card tricks, with an ordinary deck. One or two use a gaff card or two. A real value.
Vernon
This is a great item. Love it.
Phillip
This download was my introduction to the magic of Ryan Schlutz. All I can say is wow! Great selection of easy to do card tricks. Since getting this I have purchased other of Ryan's effects. Buy this if you're just starting out or even if you are comfortable with intermediate sleights. Lots of useful and baffling tricks!
Helder
Like most things done by Ryan, this is absolutely brillant.
It's clear, accessible but still very strong. So the title is actually very accurate.
Very good material and effects. This is definitively worth my money.
Jack
Amazing and lots will be added to my routine. Great value too.
Can
couple of gems in this selection. This would in particular be highly recommended if you are new to card magic. I've been around magic for a while and I still found a few that fooled me that I enjoyed:
absent player by dani daortiz
4 sided gemini
silent transmission by eddie fields
Eagle
If you can make it through Ryan’s performances then there are a couple of gems on here. I couldn’t. I do know of some of the effects that are taught. So Sato’s effect, for example, is killer. But I couldn’t even make it through two performances on this download before I just gave up. Kind of defeats the purpose of having “Super Strong Super Simple” material when you absolutely bomb with the presentation. I’m sure Ryan’s a nice guy but man, it’s rough.
Oliver
Ryan does a great great job at teaching you lots of different cards tricks here. As the title says, they are super strong and super simple. You should definitely buy this because it is really good. Thank you vanishing ink for such a great download
David
Brilliant routines, many impromptu, and many with a borrowed deck, easy to learn, and expertly and concisely taught. I look forward to adding many of these to my close up repertoire, kind regards, David
Bill
Excellent selection of simple effects that look far more difficult than they really are.
Angelo
Nice selection of sleight-lite/self-working card effects. Ryan does a good job of explaining each effect.
Warren
Excellent worthy of a 5 star rating
Gerardo
This download is just great. I bought it yesterday and I already performed 2 of his ideas. I've been studying magic for about 5 years now and something was just missing. Presentation, likeability maybe, approaching people. How to handle the guests. Ryan answers all that. All the moves I've learned now seem mastered. Any questions, rationalization of moves, justifications, subtleties appear insignificant, yet play into what spectators are thinking. I will be buying all his products, one per month, since my wife only allows me one big purchase per check lol thanks Mr. Schlutz.
Kenneth
This download really lives up to its name. Every trick is falling-off-a-log easy, and every trick is, well, super strong. All of this material is practical, and your participants will think you're he best card magician they've ever seen.
Laura Bautista
The title is really faithful to what it offers: super strong, super simple. It has been a long time since I have seen a collection of routines as extensive as this one with so that much value. All of his tricks are top ten. Without complications, get some brutal kicker endings perfect to close your show. It is to be seen with a notebook and make notes. It's more than two hours of absolute magic.
Can
Really some fooling card effects in here. I am impressed with the material overall. I found this also in my monthly subscription of vanishing Inc. as part of videos that you get for free with your monthly subscription. Not all the card effects were really amazing but definitely worth purchasing or watching overall.
Jedrzej
This video is Great! It has more than two hours of tricks, and most are hands off! I love this! Great tricks!
Wow!
David
If you want to take a break from learning hard sleights but still want to present strong magic, this is your thing.
I love Ryan´s presentations and explanations. I already use some of the tricks explained here and they get the same big reactions as the more sleight-oriented tricks i do. After having seen and learned this download i also got his At the table lecture-download and his Unanchored-book, which i also love. In short: Ryan Schlutz is great!

I purchased this at a discount some years ago, likely enticed by the low price, but even at its asking price the content has a value well above its price. This is not a beginner's set of self-working tricks with maybe one or two good ideas you may still preform beyond your beginner stage - this is QUALITY material which I am surprised to find all in one place.
Luciano
Excellent material! Ryan provides not only a collection of interesting routines that are simple to perform, but also the work to gather these routines from different creators. For begginers, this is a good starting point, and for experienced magicians, most of the concepts might be known, but I still would say it is a good option to remember them. Very few techniques are used and a separate video is provided teaching them.

I am a fan of “Super Strong, Super Simple” and a. Fan of Ryan Schultz. It’s easy to do but powerful tricks. I think it is cool with it’s accessibility - requiring no advanced skills, yet delivering performances that will still fool some friends.

There is a list of impressive tricks but I have to admit his version of “Shuffle-Bored” stands out as a personal favorite. Its is clever and it is simple and is strong. I feel that the DVD could be geared toward beginners but also has some nice refreshers for some seasoned performers.

I think I am a fan of this because it’s not just “kid tricks” and feels inclusive - that there is something for everyone. I was impressed by Ryan’s effectiveness in teaching fundamental principles that I gifted this to a young enthusiast who quickly found their footing in the world of card magic.

I dig it. Plus I got it free during a Vanishing Inc. sale.
Jose
Some really easy effects that pack a powerful punch.
Carl
WOW WOW WOW !!

I've always been a fan of hard hitting simple card magic and this is mo exceptional

I have 8 downloads by Aldo Colombini (6 Impromptu Card Magic and 2 Card and dice Deceptions) and I've struggled to find something similar since I got those some years ago

Ryan Schlutz teaches these effects nicely, clearly and doesn't rush or go too fast which is perfect for me.

This was my first Ryan Schlutz purchase which I bought last week (October 2024) and I've since bought his False Anchors book and 2 other card magic compilations and I'm not disappointed at all.

5 out of 5 from me indefinitely
Alexei
The wonderful download offers a compendium of card tricks from various creators (e.g. Bannon, Curry, Vernon). None require advanced sleights, although a separate download contains an introduction to basic techniques/tools (e.g. pinky break, Magician's choice). Although download may be geared more toward a beginner, I enjoyed this lecture tremendously and plan on performing a few of the selections. I really liked John Bannon's 4 Sided Gemini, and the presentation for Out of this world, among others. One of the tricks requires double-backers, but the rest use a regular deck of cards. Schultz's performance was a bit wooden, but the teaching was efficient and clear. If you can get this at a discount, well worth it.
Vince
Great download to have if you are a card magician. The effects are well taught and they are astonishing and easy to do. These are effects that you can do for the most part with very little preparation so when someone asks you to do a card trick you can rely on those taught on this download. Highly recommended. A++++++++++++
David
Excellent class. All the routines shown here are exactly as advertised in the title of this fabulous project. There are many routines that I already knew; however, it is completely worth its price for the amount of tips and ideas you get.

In my case, I was very lucky to be able to get this material in Vanishing's magnificent Black Friday $0.99 deals. Still, I'd say that for the sheer amount of auto routines you get with this download, its full price is wildly cheap.

The content was recorded with the high quality that Vanishing Inc. has accustomed us to. Each presentation also had a completely real audience. Without a doubt, I will be performing quite a bit of the material shown in this class in my upcoming card magic shows.

If one day you want to have the maximum impact and put in as little effort as possible, go for this project. You will have old school card magic, 100% proven over the years before thousands and thousands of real people.

It only remains for me to say: many thanks to Ryan Schlutz and Vanishing Inc. for sharing this type of diabolically magical work with the magical community. Greetings from a verified buyer from the end of the world (Chile).
Simon
Very well explained and great content
Gerhard
This is an excellent excellent resource for a beginner to get into card magic. There is nothing that is difficult in terms of sleights. There is a section that does cover some of the basic sleights. The tutorials are excellent and the video quality is excellent. Lots of content at a great price. Get this.
Alvin
I’ve been practicing magic for over 20 years, and these card tricks truly impressed me with their simplicity and impact. Some are clever improvements on classic routines, and they’ll definitely become my go-to versions for performing them! This is one of the best magic videos I’ve come across in a long time—it’s reignited my excitement for the art!
Michel
Very good material.
Tom
A FANTASTIC collection of self-working tricks by some of the greats in magic. Some require setup, some require some very basic gaffs (like double facers) but there is almost no sleight of hand involved here. Not only that by Ryan is a fantastic teacher and goes through everything with a fine tooth comb. I would recommend this to anyone, especially people new to card magic. Fantastic stuff.
Kevin
WOW!!!! Outstanding selection of tricks and very clear explanations. One of the best DVD/Downloads I've ever bought.
James
So many great effects here that are easy to do, and some don't need much of a setup. It can all be done from a regular deck of cards or a borrowed deck. It’s all very hard-hitting magic from some of the big names, such as Dai Vernon and Dani DaOrtiz. There are also some sleights that Ryan teaches that you can use, which are more geared
towards beginners but still great to have.
Samuel
Based on the many glowing reviews for this download, my expectations going in were high. I'm happy to say that Super Strong Super Simple exceeded them. I'm just a hobbyist, so to find a collection of material this strong that is within my skill level is extremely satisfying. There is so much here to enjoy. The methods are often subtle and ingenious. I also really appreciated Ryan's performance style and his tips on audience management and psychology. This is a fantastic product that I can't recommend highly enough. Bravo!
Dennis
If I could give more than 5 stars for this, I would. I am really new to magic and cards especially after only doing it for several months, but this had me practicing easy moves and trying out a trick or two almost immediately. Geared towards the beginner, of course, and riffs off a bunch of other types of material you might find in many of the most popular books, there is a lot of easy explanation for the rank beginner (that would be me). Sometimes you get a video and it is marked as "easy" and the magician references terms and sleights and names you hadn't ever heard of and don't explain it. Ryan takes you from zero to hero with great detail and the tricks are amazingly easy to do and surprisingly very few are self-working (I get tired of watching "spell this out" or count this tricks as a beginner). Ryan has his own definite style of performing but what I like about the tricks is that they are so easily adaptable and you can devise your own patter and make it your own (as we all should be doing). As others have already said about the download, it really lives up to the title of "super easy super strong". It is a testament to the idea that a little technique can go a long way. My only one caveat is that the first trick needed a gaff card, which had me worried. But to be honest, after learning the other tricks, I bought it after watching the trick explanation and giving it a whirl I now appreciate how to incorporate that with some confidence. Which of course, led to other gaffs, and other tricks, and now it's like I'm hooked...this video is the gateway drug of magic!

Super Strong Super Simple by Ryan Schlutz is a fantastic magic resource for performers of all levels. The explanations are clear, thorough, and packed with practical tips. Each routine is designed to be visually strong while remaining deceptively simple to perform. Schlutz’s teaching style is engaging and accessible, ensuring that even complex effects feel achievable. This collection will improve your presentation, enhance your repertoire, and provide routines that leave audiences amazed. Highly recommended for any magician seeking reliable, powerful effects.
Oscar
Super Strong, Super Simple honestly feels like it was made exactly for someone like me—someone who loves card magic but doesn’t always have the chops (or the patience) for heavy sleight of hand. Ryan Schlutz went through centuries of material and pulled together what really does feel like the strongest collection of self-working routines I’ve ever seen in one place. Everything here is super deceptive but totally doable, which is the dream combination for an amateur still trying to gain confidence. Ryan performs each trick for real spectators, which helped me see how powerful these can actually play, and then he explains everything slowly and clearly without assuming you already know a bunch of technical stuff. It also feels good knowing he got permission for all the effects, so the whole project is actually ethical and not just a grab-bag of borrowed ideas. Right from the start with routines like his own “Forget to Remember” and Dai Vernon’s classic “Emotional Reaction,” you can tell this collection was put together with a lot of care. What I love most is that these tricks let you focus on presentation instead of worrying about moves, and they genuinely fool people. For someone still developing skill and confidence, this download made me feel like I finally have a set of card tricks I can perform anytime without stressing, and that’s a huge deal.
