Ian Kendall has been a professional performer since 1992, working everywhere from street shows and restaurants to parlour performances. He has also been teaching since 1984, combining decades of real-world experience with three teaching qualifications.

Three questions for Ian Kendall
In the early 90s, I think I was the first person in the UK to really use the muscle pass properly (in my restaurant work at the time, I had a 24" vertical, when the world record was 18"; Max Maven's response was 'that's better than Cornelius'...) I still think a one coin routine is the one thing that every magician should be able to perform well (and the Cups and Balls, natch). The simple vanish of a coin is, I strongly believe, the purest magic effect possible.
On stage, I'm very partial to the Linking Rings; over the years, I've used five or six distinct routines.
When working in restaurants in the 90s, I was very into rubber band routines, and to this day I always have a few bands and a shoelace in my right back pocket. With a coin, it's as close to EDC as I get!
