For decades, the seaside town has played a major role in shaping modern magic culture through its performers, conventions, magic shops, clubs, and live events.

Today, Blackpool magic remains a huge part of the international magic community, attracting performers, creators, collectors, and dealers from around the world every year.
What Is the History of Magic in Blackpool?
The roots of Blackpool magic history stretch back more than 80 years.
The North West Magicians Club was formed in 1941 before eventually becoming The Blackpool Magicians Club. In 1953, the club launched the first Blackpool Magic Convention, a one-day gathering featuring lectures, performances, and just five magic dealers.
Over the decades, the convention grew into something far larger.
By 1978, the event had moved into the famous Winter Gardens Blackpool, helping establish Blackpool as the British Magic Capital. In 2015, the convention officially entered the Guinness World Records as the largest magic convention in the world, attracting more than 3,600 magicians.
Blackpool has also hosted major international events, including the FISM European Championships of Magic and the FISM World Championships of Magic.
Why Is Blackpool Still Important to Magic Today?
Blackpool continues to be one of the most important meeting points in modern magic.
Every February, thousands of magicians travel to Blackpool for lectures, dealer halls, live performances, and creator sessions. The town has become a hub for collaboration, education, and new magic releases.
