The thumb tip is one of the most utilized and valuable gimmicks in magic, but it also wins the title of perhaps its most badly used. However, the thumb tip, despite repeated exposures, can still create miracles when used properly and judiciously.

Thumbtip tricks:

  • Michael Ammar - 41-cent Miracle
  • Richard Osterlind - Sweet and Low
  • Roger Klause - The Miser's Cornucopia
  • Alexander de Cova - Purse Swindle
  • Ted Lesley - Coin Through Sleeves
  • Al Schneider - Vanishing Dime
  • Jeff Sheridan - Cigarette in the Coat
  • Alexander de Cova - Blank Cheque Transpo
  • Fernando Keops - Mini 20th Century
  • Jeff Sheridan - Vanishing and Reappearing Water
  • Paul Diamond - Thumb Tip Lecture
  • Steve Dacri - Mini Blendo
  • Paul Wilson - Tipless
  • Dan Harlan - World's Saddest Trick

On this DVD, you'll see ways to use a thumb tip that you've never dreamed of. Michael Ammar presents a poignant story with just a few coins that your audience will always remember. Richard Osterlind tears open a signed packet of sugar substitute and miraculously restores it, while Roger Klause conjures silver coins from thin air with just a borrowed dollar bill. If you think you know the traditional vanishing handkerchief, you're about to be badly fooled by Alexander de Cova and Paul Wilson. Jeff Sheridan offers his versions of two classic thumb tip pieces, while Ted Lesley and Dan Harlan demonstrate effects suitable for a stand-up performance. Larger stage tricks like 20th Century Silks and Blendo are turned into powerful close-up effects by Fernando Keops and Steve Dacri, and Al Schneider performs a quaint mystery with nothing more than a borrowed dime. Rounding out this set is Paul Diamond with a post-graduate course in thumb tip work with finesses that will vastly improve your own handling of this marvelous tool.

Don't be misled by those who dismiss the thumb tip as "old school." There are a dozen performers and 14 performances and explanations here that provide conclusive evidence that there's still a lot of magical life left in this wonderful utility gimmick.

Customer reviews for World's Greatest Magic - Thumbtips

David
I really enjoyed this dvd set, the thumb tip is a classic of magic that some my feel is cliché but done right it really has a power effect on people. I loved the part featuring Mr. Humble aka Paul Diamond, he gives some fantastic advice.

Been obsessed with learning about the thumb tip lately, got this downloaded and think it’s phenomenal. The Richard Osterlind sugar packet trick is great, the one section on how to show both hands empty and the cigarette vanish are awesome as well. A really interesting routine from Fernando Keops making a strand of red string tied between two yellow strings that were tied before and put in an envelope and given to the audience to hold was actually really unique and when he explains it his handling of the thumb tip is so smooth and invisible. Very inspiring to watch and I’ll try to be as good as him. Also the vanishing dime is so simple but very clean and beautiful. Could go onto a David Williamson routine from his Magic Farm video called rebate where there is a coin in a pen cap, I think those two routines blend together perfectly and will try it out starting with this and going right into that. Overall if ya like thumb tips and are relatively new to them like me you’ll not just learn cool tricks but also see how the master magicians here handle it to make it seem invisible. Highly recommend this and the download on here from Joshua Jay, the hand picked astonishments thumb tips video. Both are excellent resources to study from and think about all the original stuff you can come up with using the knowledge they give you. Also, Alexander De Cova’s method of a silk vanish should be the only way you ever do it, he shows both thumbs during the vanish and makes it seem like he’s squishing the silk between his fingertips. Never seen it done other than the classic pushing it into your fist, if you thought the silk vanish was lame, watch him perform it first and see how fooling it is if you already know how to do the classic. His way with showing both thumbs during the vanish is the only way you should do it
