Four Questions About Fourtunate

By Vanishing Inc -

We asked the David Jonathan, the creator of Fourtunate some info about his latest release. He tells all below!

1. What was your inspiration for creating Fourtunate?
I set out to create the most direct approach to the core principle that Fourtunate relies on. I also liked the idea of writing the prediction on the cellophane of the box as it has an impromptu feel to it. I built several prototypes then reached out to Mark Mason as I knew the gimmick fit his style and that he would be the perfect partner to bring this to life.  He loved the concept and has done a fantastic job constructing and producing the gimmicks - they look flawless.

2. How difficult is it to perform?
Fourtunate is self-working as the special box and supplied cards do nearly all the work for you.  Beginners will appreciate how easy it is to perform, while seasoned pros will love the instant reset and practicality.

3. Have you experimented with building the reveal into other routines?
Absolutely!  The card case you receive is a utility device that can be used for a variety of other card prediction effects - you are not just limited to the routine shown in the trailer.  I'm excited to see other ways that magicians may choose to utilize it.

4. How practical is the routine?
Fourtunate is a worker's dream!  Everything is self-contained within the box and it resets instantly.  It’s ideal for the gigging performer, and here’s a bonus tip for table hoppers: after the performance, hold the box with the ink facing yourself and wipe it off the cellophane in front of your spectators before placing the box away.  This appears to set a clean slate for the next performance, while also preempting them from questioning if you just ruined the card box by writing on it.

OK, let's do a bonus question ...

5. Your first release was called Fortuity. What's with the number four?! Ha, I never realized the connection until you mentioned it. I guess you could say that it was just fortuitous!
