Magifest History: A Correction

By Vanishing Inc. -

This year, we were pleased to present a limited-edition book to all Magifest attendees that chronicles the storied history of Magifest. The event is approaching its 100th anniversary (it started in 1932, and we just completed the 94th annual celebration).

That booklet highlights and provides history across our 94 years together, but there was an element that wasn’t explained as fully as it could have been, and so we’re pleased to correct that now, with apologies to Tim Moore.

When Josh and Andi took over Magifest in 2012, they did it with a third partner, Tim Moore. Tim initially spoke with Jep Hostetler about continuing the convention, and Jep gave his blessing. Briefly after that, Josh and Andi entered the conversation, and it was decided that everyone working together–as a trio–would be the best way forward. Tim helped book some of the talent featured in 2013.

Tim Moore also papered the arrangement by taking ownership of the trademark, logo, and Magifest name. The trio continued to work together until 2017, when Josh and Andi took over as co-organizers. Tim Moore is still an avid supporter and annual attendee of Magifest and has attended 52 consecutive Magifest gatherings.
