My Favorite Card Tricks: Andi Gladwin

We asked some of our team to share with us their favorite card tricks. This week is the turn of our noble leader Andi Gladwin. You may know him from his hit DVD The Master Pushoff, or from being one of the Vanishing Inc co-founders! Over to Andi:

Multiple Revelation
I have made a lifelong study of the Multiple Revelation plot. In many ways, I think it's the perfect card trick because the procedure happens quickly at the start of the routine and from there it's all about the magic, with many moments of magic happening in rapid succession. It allows me to perform a routine with, say, twelve people involved, and with twelve moments of magic, each with a bigger build than the last. I can't think of another card trick that allows for that, and so I perform it as often as possible.

Edward G. Brown's Thought-Transpo
I have made no secret of my love for this effect, and if you have learned it, you'll understand why. In the effect, a spectator thinks of a card from a small packet, and without ever telling you the name of the card, it vanishes from their packet and arrives in a packet of cards held by another participant at the other end of the room. It's an effect that can be performed close-up or on stage and at the moment, it's probably my most performed effect. You can find it in the book The Card Magic of Edward G.Brown.

Right Card, Wrong Card
This is my go-to impromptu card effect. While it doesn't really have an official name, it's so easy that I can describe it here. Control a card to the top of the deck, execute a double turnover to show that it's the wrong card, then change it to the correct card. While the version I do is a little more embellished than that, what I just described is the core effect. It's a killer moment of magic for any lay audience and I so often use it as a way of opening an impromptu set.
