A Balloon Gone Wrong

By Ben Young -

This horror story comes from our friend Jake Lundgren, from Ohio:

My first job was at a children's birthday party center.  I was a party host, so I would make sure kids were safe and parents were happy, but I would also do a bit of magic and twist balloons to increase my tips. I was nearing the end of a good shift and had some extra time, so I decided to make balloon animals.  It was a great group of kids, and all the parents were friendly and ecstatic about getting a little "extra" added to the party.  The birthday girl asked for a butterfly, so I happily made her one.  But then, something happened.  She showed her mom, who then grabbed it out of her hand and stormed out of the room.

I later found out that she had approached my manager, furious.  She had complained, "Please tell me why one of your employees just made my daughter a balloon animal penis!" She held up the balloon and continued, "What does this look like to you?!"  My manager, a bit confused, replied 'Umm...a butterfly!'" The woman reputed, "Well he needs to practice more!"  and once again stormed off. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a professional balloon sculptor.  Magic is my specialty, and I know just enough ballooning to add them to my shows.  However, I personally believe that I am good enough to NOT make my balloon animals look like genitalia.

Long story short, that was the only bad review I got in three years.

Butterfly balloon

It's definitely a butterfly.
