How to Get More Gigs
By Andi Gladwin -
When it comes to discussions about getting more gigs, I find that magicians often approach it in the same ways: by thinking about marketing and advertising (such as by updating your website, going to networking meetings and giving our more business cards). These things work, but often are short-term solutions.
The alternative is harder, but much more rewarding: become an even better magician. That's the model I set out in Going Pro (a free ebook): the better the magician you are, the better shows you'll get. It would be a pretty hollow victory, for me at least, if I got good gigs solely based on my marketing. Instead, I prefer to focus my energies on being as good of a magician I can, so that more people see and talk about my work. This more long-term approach is like pushing a snowball down a hill and will always reap better rewards than trying to find the next new marketing fad.
