My Favorite Card Tricks: Jon Allen
By Alex Robertson -
We asked some of magic's greatest minds to share with us their favorite card tricks. This week is the turn of Jon Allen. You may know him from his hit effect The Silent Treatment. Over to Jon:

Double Back - I do my version of Dr Daley’s Last Trick more than any other trick, cards or otherwise. It talks directly to people because the premise is about how many people think magicians achieve the magic tricks. There is also more psychology involved in this simple effect than any other I do.
Signed Card to Clear Box - I use my Paragon 3D to perform this effect. The box itself helps me greatly right from the start: finding out about the people I’m going to entertain, establishing a rapport with them and more. The effect itself is something that genuinely stuns people. It also achieves something I like in magic where things are brought full circle, having given out the box at the start.
Ambitious Card - This classic routine seems to be decisive amongst magicians. This is my favourite card trick to perform because the way I perform it allows me to freestyle the presentation. It’s also very inclusive for the audience and a routine that can vary in length depending on circumstances.
