The Evolution of Magic Mail

I came up with the concept of Magic Mail years ago, but of course, an idea is nothing without proper execution. I cobbled together several mock-ups, but the finished product is the result of tireless efforts from my amazing team at Chronicle Publishing, to help me realize the dream of making letters appear like magic from all over the world.

As you can see from the photos, the evolution of the box itself is radical. It started rounded, then went square, and finally retro. And when skinned with the stamps and weathering, I think it came out..pretty wonderful.

The big lesson for me, is being open to collaboration. It's a great exercise I wish more magicians would learn. The wonderful team at Chronicle helped bring to my attention all sorts of improvements and new ideas that made the project better.
