The Vanishing Inc. Culture

Many company founders are keen to tell you about the internal culture that they have created for their employees. The idea is that a vibe bubbles through the workplace so that everyone knows how they should act, talk, and feel about their company.

But that has always felt forced and unnecessary. The culture at Vanishing Inc. has developed itself and it's very simple: we care about delivering great magic and we care about each other. That's not something we forced; it happened because we were lucky enough to find the right people.

Everyone on our team is a magician who cares deeply about their own magic, and about ensuring that they leave magic a better place than they found it. I think that shows in their magic, just as much as it does in their work for Vanishing Inc.

But we don't just care about magic - we care about each other. That came to light recently when Brian returned from his vacation early and appeared unannounced at the warehouse to take over from Mark, whose birthday it was. Or another time when a team member was having a difficult time; he temporarily moved in with a colleague. Or another, when George realised that one of our teams were overwhelmed with work, he jumped on a 15-hour flight to help them ... even though he just flew home from there less than 24 hours before! It's as the founder of Slack once wrote: "One of our values is that you should be looking out for each other. Everyone should try to make the lives of everyone else who works here a little bit simpler."

Just look at us at magic conventions. We work together all day long and then we hang out together late into the night. Not because we have to, but because want to.

So, whenever anyone asks what our culture is, my answer is as simple as it is sentimental: great magic, produced and distributed by magicians who care.
